Who is arm lift surgery best for?

Patients who are not happy with the excess skin on the arms.

What is arm lift surgery?

A cosmetic procedure performed in the operating room under general anesthesia that removes excess skin and soft tissue as well as fat from the upper arms (from the elbow to the axilla).

What is the procedure like?

This procedure takes about 2 hours. This is a 1-day surgery. You do not stay in the hospital overnight

What would my scars look like?

Incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. Incisions are usually placed on the inside or back of the arm and extend all the way from the axilla to the elbow.

What is recovery like?

After this procedure, you will be sent home with a tight compression garment on the areas treated. This is used to reduce swelling. You will also have drains in the arms to drain any fluid that is present. These are removed 1-2 weeks later. Any pain and discomfort that you experience is easily treated with oral pain medication.

When can I go back to work and start exercising again?

Patients can usually return to work in about 2 weeks if your job does not involve heavy lifting. Any heavy lifting should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.
