Who is a brow lift surgery best for?

Patients who are not happy with the excess skin around the eyebrow or the drooping position of the eyebrow and would like to obtain a more youthful and awake appearance around the eye.

What is brow lift surgery?

A cosmetic procedure that reduces the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose in between the eyes.

It also improves frown lines, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows, and raises sagging brows that are hooding the upper eyelids. This procedure places the eyebrows in an alert and more youthful position.

What is the procedure like?

This procedure is done in the operating room under general anesthesia or IV sedation. This is a 1-day surgery. You do not stay in the hospital overnight.

What would my scars look like?

Incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. Incisions are usually placed on the inside or back of the arm and extend all the way from the axilla to the elbow.

What are the risks of this procedure?

Anesthesia risks, Bleeding, Loss of hair around the incisions, Elevated hairline, Eye irritation or dryness, Facial asymmetry, Facial nerve injury with weakness or paralysis, Fluid accumulation, Infection, Numbness or other changes in skin sensation or intense itching, Pain, which may persist, Poor wound healing, Possibility of revision surgery, Skin loss, Unfavorable scarring

What would my scars look like?

Depending on what type of technique would be best for you, most brow lift scars are hidden with the hairline.

What is recovery like?

After surgery, your forehead may be taped or your head may be wrapped in a compressive bandage to help with any swelling that may occur. You will need to keep your head elevated and avoid any vigorous activity. Bruising in the area is very common. Initial wound healing takes about 10 to 14 days.

When can I go back to work and start exercising again?

People can usually return to work and normal activity in 14 days.
