Patients who may have had trauma to the earlobe or who are not happy with the stretched out/drooping appearance of their earlobe.

What is earlobe augmentation?

A procedure that can improve the shape, position, proportion, or irregularity of the earlobes.

What is the procedure like?

This procedure usually takes about 1 hour and can be performed in the office under local anesthesia. If the earlobe has a traumatic defect, it is important to repair this with a Z-plasty to improve the overall strength of the earlobe.

What are the risks of this procedure?

Infection, seroma, hematoma, need for further procedures, scarring, distortion of the earlobe.

What would my scars look like?

Depending on the degree of defect in the earlobe, most scars extend through the entire earlobe – front and back.

What is recovery like?

You will have stitches in your ear that will need to be removed in about 1 week.

When can I go back to work and start exercising again?

Vigorous activity should be avoided for about 1 week, but most patients can return to full activity after that.
